When people die in traffic accidents, their families are often left to deal with significant financial hardships besides emotional grief and anguish. For, the sudden death of a loved one may result in the loss of a paycheck coming into the family household as well as expenses associated with the decedent’s burial, funeral and estate administration.

However, certain family members of deceased victims may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim against the party responsible for the fatal accident. By filing this type of lawsuit, the decedent’s family members may seek financial compensation for the damages they suffered as a result of the fatal incident. If successful, the claimants may be awarded restitution for expenses and lost earnings related to the sudden loss of their loved one.
